Adult Keelboat Learn to Sail

Basic Cruising Course

Available with Membership

Learn to crew and skipper a keelboat by yourself. This 28-hour comprehensive course is designed to build comfort and introduce key concepts to first-time sailors. Develop the skills needed to sail on coastal waterways and charter boats in vacation destinations. Materials and certification included.

Upon successful completion you will be awarded Sail Canada’s Basic Cruising Standard.

2019 Sail Canada Basic Cruising Course Schedule:

  • Session 1: Saturdays & Sundays from 9 AM to 5 PM – May 18, 19, 25 & 26, 2019
  • Session 2: Saturdays & Sundays from 9 AM to 5 PM – June 1, 2, 8 & 9, 2019
  • Session 3: Saturdays & Sundays from 9 AM to 5 PM – July 6, 7, 13 & 14, 2019
  • Session 4: Saturdays & Sundays from 9 AM to 5 PM – September 7, 8, 14 & 15, 2019

Course Fee:

  • $729 + HST
  • $829 + HST – BASIC CRUISING PACKAGE – Includes Basic Cruising Standard, PCOC Licence & Marine Radio Licence

Intermediate Cruising Course

Available with Membership

Advance your sailing skills in our live aboard course. Students will learn to skipper and crew a keelboat by day in unfamiliar waters, while building the skills and experience needed for live-aboard cruises and bareboat charters.

Participants in this course will gain practical experience in provisioning, sail selection, sailing maneuvers, mooring and anchoring, docking and more during a four-day cruise to a nearby sailing destination – such as Port Dalhousie or Bronte (weather dependent).

Upon successful completion you will be awarded Sail Canada’s Intermediate Cruising Standard. Pre-requisites for this course are: Basic Cruising Standard (or equivalent), ROC(M) Licence, PCOC and Basic Coastal Navigation Standard.

  • Session 1: Tuesday to Sunday *live aboard course* – July 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 & 21, 2019

  • $1999 + HST
