Level 1&2 Race Officer Course – COURSE CANCELLED


Course Dates: 
Saturday & Sunday, February 20 & 21, 2016 – 9 am to 5 pm

Fee: $75.71

Course Description:

This two-day Sail Canada conducted course covers the theory required to be a certified Race Management Assistant Race Officer (level 1) as well as Club Race Officer (level 2).

Topics covered include the duties and responsibilities of recorder, timer, flag officer, sound signaler, line judge and how to lead a race management team. As well as basic compass skills, setting and maintaining start/finish lines, calculating a race course and regatta organization.

Each participant will need to bring Racing Rules of Sailing book, paper and a writing utensil. Lunch is also the responsibility of the participant.

Level 1 (Assistant Race Officer) Theory
Duties and responsibilities of:
Flag Officer
Sound Signaler
Line Judge
Basic compass skills
Setting and maintaining start/finish lines
Prerequisites: None

Level 2 (Club Race Officer) Theory
Duties and responsibilities of leading a Race Management Team
Regatta Organization
Compass Skills – Calculating race course
Prerequisite: Level 1
