Ontario Sailing and Canada Pan-Am Coach, Thomas Fogh, will introduce key concepts about start line preparation, strategies for the upwind and downwind legs, mark roundings and crossing the finish line.

#2 - Sail Trim for Boat Speed *FULL*

Thursday, March 8, 2018 - 6:30 PM

#3 - Wx for Sailing & Short Course Racing *FULL*

Thursday, April 12, 2018 - 6:30 PM

He will talk about local conditions, lake breezes, shore effects, cloud streets and how stable and unstable temperature profiles bend the wind around points and coves differently. We’ll also look at whether there is a misconception in how to determine the favored end of the starting line.

#3 - Tactics from the Rules Perspective *FULL*

Thursday, April 19, 2018 - 6:30 PM

See how both tactics and rules are based upon patterns and pattern recognition. Pat will talk about the rules for mark rounding, starting lines and obstructions in terms of the best tactics. See when to be aggressive and when not to push. We will also take about the best strategies for protest hearings.

Bring your questions and an open mind, and maybe, we will start the new sailing season with a renewed enthusiasm for racing the slowest form of transportation on the planet.

North U Seminar - Sail Trim

In this full day seminar North U Instructor Geoff Moore will cover Upwind and Downwind Sail Trim.

You’ll learn how angle of attack, depth, and twist control upwind power and proper trim for light, moderate and heavy air, and how optimum trim changes with sea state. We’ll explore spinnaker trim for both symmetric and asymmetric spinnakers and see how changes in trim and shape can improve performance and control in all conditions.
