The National Yacht Club 2.4 Metre sailors have had a very active winter in Florida. Jerry Wendt, Paul Tingley, Bruce Millar, and Allan Leibel, all had successful results in four regattas, and the boats are on their way back north to start the summer season. Paul Tingley, the Paralympic Gold Medalist in Beijing in 2008, is preparing full time for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Paul has been training in Florida, assisted by various Toronto sailors, and will likely spend some time at NYC this spring for further training. Bruce Millar has transferred temporarily to the Sonar Class for the 2012 London Paralympics, and then will return to the 2.4s. By mid-March, the 2.4s were already sailing at National, given the warm weather. Summer racing starts in May with Thursday evening racing, and several weekend regattas. The 2.4 Metre Class is very large in Europe, and a new North American builder has just been announced.
