Broad Reach Foundation update
March 19th, 2012 @ 12:37 PM EST by admin
Please find the latest (December) issue of the BroadReach Newsletter here: BRF Newsletter December 2011   In it are stories from two areas of our Club about how donations are helping support and expand Broad Reach programs in support of their sucesses with Inner City Children through the use of their sailing fleet. There are at least two additional stories about charitable contributions from the NYC that are connected with Broadreach that have not been published there. One will be documented in their next Newsletter in March, regarding the perpetual Sailing School Scholarship Fund set up by the 1/4 Ton Fleet in memory of long term member of this Fleet, Katherine York.  The other is an historical event years ago (Dr Michael Dosch, Tom Wood and yours truly who donated their Screamer 40 ORCA to BroadReach).   All three of these gentlement are still members of the NYC. ORCA was Broadreach's first boat (in an eventually growing fleet), thus enabling them to successfully begin to utilize sailing as a vehicle to reinforce teamwork and leadership thru their programs. Their link with the NYC began with the donation of ORCA and continues to this day. Harvey Cracknell Patriarch, NYC ¼ ton fleet
