Beneteau 36.7

Thanks to the incredible show of support from the many club members who gave willingly of their time, the intense year long planning of Richard Reid, Mike Sonosky, Kelly, and their team, I am delighted to report that we had a highly successful regatta for the Beneteau 36.7 North Americans.

The Tourism board of Barbados was a welcome title sponsor and they were seen all weekend long thoroughly enjoying this regatta.

A hearty thank you to Walter and our office and kitchen staff, who helped organize the event and pitched in the many long hours required to control the niggling little fires that have a habit of popping up at these sorts of events.

We are thrilled to have received many letters of commendation from the participants, members and spectators who took part. The hockey tournament proved to be a brilliant way to blow off extra steam, keep everyone entertained during postponements and continue the spirited on-the-water rivalry, all the while providing great entertainment for all. The hockey shirts provided to all the skippers were amazing, andwill be a keepsake for years to come. The Club has been presented with one which is being framed as we speak.

This regatta proved that yet again the NYC is a great host, has the team to put on quality regattas, and provides super racing. We look forward to more prestigious events in the future.

Thanks must also go out to all boat owners who cheerfully vacated their slips for this regatta.

As you have probably noticed, we are well into the preparations to upgrade the mast racks in time for Haulout. Ed McCormick and his committee, plus many members that volunteered their time to the project, have cleared the section in the east yard that will see the three racks resting on a concrete foundation. In next year’s budget we will tackle the aging wooden support brackets. Once the concrete has set, the committee is looking for a team of volunteers to reassemble the existing racks. If you have a need for volunteer hours this is the project for you!
