Credit Cards & Member Accounts Payments

Now that the season is in full gear, I’d like to review and clarify the various payment options we have at the National Yacht Club. In the past, several programs were introduced to improve the member experience and convenience.  While these have been a great benefit for many of you, they have resulted in increased labour costs due to our outdated club system (soon to be replaced). NYC offers two separate automatic credit card programs to simplify members’ account payments as follows: Member Account Credit Card Authorization: The member authorizes NYC to charge (on the monthly due date) any outstanding fees or dues that are owing on that due date to their credit card. Dining Room – Accounts Receivable (A/R): The member authorizes NYC to charge (on a bi-weekly basis) any outstanding food and beverage charges not previously paid.  A 15% gratuity is automatically added to these charges. Forms for both programs are available in the club office.  Members may choose to enroll in one, both, or neither payment program.  Continued participation in either program is dependent on ensuring that credit card information is up-to-date and accurate with the club office.  Unfortunately, we won’t be able to notify you if your card has expired for either program, so please ensure you keep us up-to-date to avoid any unnecessary finance charges or walkout fees. Members who choose not to participate in the Dining Room A/R program, must pay their bills before leaving or confirm with staff that their bills have been cleared in some other way.  As per club Bylaws, all unpaid bills (walkouts) are subject to 15% gratuity and 15% finance charges. Whether on A/R or not, members are encouraged to keep receipts of Dining Room purchases to maintain records and details of their monthly minimum fees of $45 before taxes and gratuities.  With our current system and particularly through the busy summer season, we won’t be able to easily or quickly provide you with a “minimum billing spend “status. Due to an increase in discrepancies and misunderstandings related to these programs, Dining Room staff will now be confirming member names and member numbers as required and asking if you are on the Dining Room A/R program for all food and beverage charges.  Presenting your membership card would help to simplify this process.
