H.M.C.S. YORK is a Naval Reserve unit located in Toronto. Service in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve is voluntary and is for an undefined period. Most Reservists are enrolled to serve on a part-time basis and have full-time careers outside the Canadian Forces or are full-time students. Our training schedule begins in September and ends in early May. We parade Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm-10:00pm and one Saturday a month from 8:45am-4:45pm. Occupational training takes place during the first three summers for 2-4 month periods depending on your trade.

Reservists train and work close to home. Reserve Force units are located in many communities across Canada. Reservists are not obliged to serve overseas, but many choose to do so. The Navy’s efficient fleet of warships and submarines is ready to respond to conflict and emergencies around the globe. Navy ships have deployed to the coast of Africa and the Caribbean over the past year.
