With launch just around the corner, local IRC measurers have been swamped with inquiries on how and when boats will be measured for the upcoming season.
Measurement sessions are planned for Toronto, Hamilton (for heavy boats), Niagara-on-the-Lake, Port Stanley and Rochester, however, the dates have not been finalized as boats will need to be launched and rigged in order to be measured.
There are currently around 30 boats on the list to be weighed and/or measured this spring. If you would like get the most out of this sailing season and race under IRC, please contact the chief measurer, John Crawley at email@example.com for further information on IRC measurement and to be added to the list.
With all of these new boats joining the fleet, Lake Ontario will have over 100 boats ready to race IRC. With the 2011 IRC Canadian Championship taking place at LYRA on July 29-31 and the 2011 IRC North American Championship at the RCYC, August 11-14, boats are already preparing to participate in what will be a great season of IRC racing! The first regional IRC event of the year is the ABYC Open Regatta on May 28-29 and it is the first of the four-event IRC Lake Ontario Championship Series.
