A unique and powerful songstress on the Canadian jazz scene, Pangman has an unerring take on classic-era jazz, making music of the past captivatingly present through her infectious charm and sincerity. Respectfully called “Canada’s sweetheart of swing”, and now on Justin Time Records.
Having begun her pursuit of jazz music as a teenager, Pangman did not formally study music, but was mentored by the late Dr. Jeff Healey, himself a specialist in classic jazz. Throughout her many albums and years in the trenches, Pangman has herself become a singer, producer, songwriter, swing dancer, and band leader. Some might call her a renaissance woman! These experiences have brought her national exposure on radio, film and television, plus musical partnerships with legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, Canadian crooner Denzal Sinclaire, Grammy nominated trumpeter Kevin Clark, and a performance at Massey Hall opening for the great Willie Nelson. Her band The Alleycats is filled with Toronto players who have swung the tunes and smiled together now for 15 years.
