Moving the Docks for Winter
November 24th, 2013 @ 01:43 PM EST by admin

Moving the docks this year has been a bit different than in previous years. The new beige dinghy docks (replacing the much loathed black plastic docks) were towed around to the C dock sections for the winter. These docks are one single unit and needed to be carefully towed.

The wind came up as the shore lines were cast off, but this worked well as it spun the long end of the dock behind Storm King. Pushers and fenders helped squeeze these docks into their winter spot. Bubblers will be installed to keep them ice free until spring.

This was also the last year for the floating dinghy ramp. The ramp has rusted out and will be replaced. It was hauled up onto the concrete ramp and taken out. Wet and windy for those who missed the show. The fiberglass grid has been removed for other uses and the metal trusses have been cut up for scrap. The new ramp will be constructed on site and will be ready for the 2014 season.
