As some members may already know, our past commodore Henry Piersig is a wizard when it comes to fabrication. I approached him about redesigning the course board on Grand National, our committee boat.
What he came up with, I think all will agree, is world class.
The digital numbers were bought; everything else was fabricated in fibreglass. The panels swing inboard so that Race Committee personnel can change the course information.
The build was quite a sight, with lots of molds, big and small, some made out of aluminum beams. Some molds were splashed off of the committee boat itself. Like projects on his own boat, the attention to
detail that Henry paid is really amazing, with details like internal stringers for stiffness and radiused corners for safety.
The course board has been in action since mid-Spring, and has drawn rave reviews from our Race Committee volunteers. Henry deserves a great deal of thanks.
