by Dave Thomas, Chair, Shark Gold Cup Regatta
The NYC will be hosting the 37th Annual Shark Gold Cup Regatta On September 11-12, 2010. This is one of a series of “Counter” Regattas held in Quebec, Ontario and New York State for the Canadian Shark Class Association (CSCA) Shark of the Year Award. When National hosted this prestigious event in 2007, it attracted entries from over 40 boats from Yacht Clubs from as far away as Windsor and Montréal. We will have an even bigger entry in 2010.
This will be a busy weekend at NYC. In addition to the action on the water, there will be an active on-shore social schedule, including an after-race ‘Attitude Adjustment’ party, Opti racing in the basin and an awards ceremony. More details including the Notice of Race and Entry Form may be found on the NYC website.
Al members of NYC’s very active Shark Fleet are expected to attend and show our visitors how serious we are about Shark racing. A special prize will be awarded to the NYC boat with the highest place overall finish. In order to encourage participation by NYC Shark club members, the entry fee will be waived for any NYC Shark Club boats that enter the regatta.
