As a member of the National Yacht Club, I wondered if some of my fellow members may be interested in joining our group for our upcoming trip to the Amazon in Brazil. Our very own Commodore has expressed and interest in joining us. We are looking for 4 more participants to complete our fishing trip in the Amazon so that we have a total of 10 people.
Over the past years, one of my hobbies has been to go out fishing and camping in the Amazon in South America. I have been to the Amazon basin in Guyana 4 times and have had the best of times down in the South American wilderness. In February 2012, I am going to the Brazilian Amazon with Paul Reiss (tour guide and operator), the details are as below.
The new (its fourth season on the water) and luxurious yacht, Blackwater Explorer, operates during the dry season in the Amazon basin’s blackwater rivers – the home of the giant peacock bass. From September thru March we focus on selected, highly productive peacock bass fisheries. We generally produce very good numbers of fish every week, with many large trophies in the 20 pound class. We expect that you will be fishing the Rio Negro basin , however, we are always prepared to turn on a dime and access the fishery with the best seasonal water levels. http://www.acuteangling.com/Peacock/Catci-where.htm .
This trip also allows anglers the opportunity to experience a wider swath of the region and its culture, since our mobility lets us move from fishery to fishery, if conditions warrant. You may have the opportunity to visit Indian villages, see remote caboclo towns and a variety of other activities.
