Basic Wind Strategy for Racers

Open to Non-Members


Understanding the basic principles of wind's behavior on the course is key for any new racer. This course covers the basics such as: what makes wind, gradient wind, gusts and lulls, lake breezes, basic cloud interactions with wind, understanding the weather map, predicting changes with the course wind, basic rules of thumb, locating sources of real time wind data with examples from Nationals own race course! All student materials included.

Ontario Sailing Race Management Course

CYA Level 1 & 2 (Assistant & Club) Race Officer
Open to Non Members

This Canadian Yachting Association program is taught by Certified Race Management Course Conductors.

Level 1 Theory: Duties and responsibilities of recorder, timer, flag officer, sound signaler, line judge, compass skills, setting and maintaining start and finish lines.

Level 2 Theory Duties and responsibilities of leading a race management team, regatta organization. Prerequisite Level 1
