Learn to sail in a fun setting with no pressure. If you are 7 – 9 years old and are thinking about learning to sail, but you’re a bit nervous about boats and the water, don’t be. In our new "Opti in August" program you’ll build confidence in one or two weeks sessions that have no tests and no set outcomes (unless you consider “joy of sailing” to be an outcome!). There will be tons of cool activities, such as tie-dye day, treasure hunts, boat building & decorating, picnics, theme days, family day, beach day and much more. Your instructors are very patient, have a great sense of humour, loads of energy, and are trained to introduce a new feeling of skill to first time sailors – like you. You will be sailing in small boats that are very easy for people in your age-group to handle. When you go back to school in September, you’ll be able to tell your friends and teachers that you sailed your own boat, by yourself, on Lake Ontario: How cool is that?!? So, call the Sailing School office today (or, if you’re too busy, get your parents to do it; they love doing this kind of stuff) and get signed up.

LEARNING TO SAIL OR RACE AT THE NATIONAL YACHT CLUB
Whatever your skill level, National Yacht Club offers fun and affordable Canadian Yachting Association certified learn to sail programs for ages seven and up.
We have over 50 years of tradition teaching sailing and sailboat racing, in an enjoyable and safe "summer by the water" setting. We are also conveniently situated near public transit as well as having easy car access.
Time on the water can lead to a life-long love of sailing and builds skills, self-reliance, and a sense of teamwork in every individual.
Learn to sail or race in National's fleet of Optimist, CL, Laser and 420 dinghies.

DISTINGUISHED PROGRAM GRADUATES
Graduates of National Yacht Club's Sailing and Racing School have gone on to become Olympians. Currently, NYC's youth racers include both national and Ontario ranked racers with membership on both the Canadian Youth team and the Ontario Sailing Team. Several graduates have gone on to become CYA certified sailing instructors.
