Shark Club at The
National Yacht Club
Interested in sailing, but don’t own a boat. Do you want to go
cruising without having to rely on other boat owners to invite you
onto their boats? Do you want the freedom and excitement of sailing
without the cost associated with boat-ownership. Then the Shark Club
program at the National Yacht Club is the place for you.
The
National Yacht Club owns several keelboats that members of the Shark
Club may take out sailing at any time. All you have to do is call
the club and reserve a boat and it is yours to sail, morning,
afternoon, or evening. It is just that easy and straight forward.
The Shark Club also provides members with the opportunity to
develop their skills in boat care, maintenance and commissioning.
Through hands on training lead by seasoned sailors, as well as
regularly schedule work parties, you will know everything there is
to know about sailing a shark.
The Shark Club has 2 membership categories:
- 1) Crew Category – Crew members do not require any previous
experience and have full access to the Shark Club fleet. Crew
participants cannot sail the boat with out a qualified Shark Club
skipper onboard
- 2) Skipper Category – To qualify as a skipper, members must
have successfully completed CYA’s Basic Cruising Course or have
equivalent experience to successfully challenge the CYA Basic
Cruising exam.
To become a member of the NYC Shark Club, please contact our
