RC Sailing at National

National Yacht Club is setting up a radio controlled sailing fleet, with racing in mind. Response to this idea has been very good to date, and the active fleet is likely to be around 20 boats at the start of sailing. The boats we are using are Dragon Force 65s (DF65), a low cost high performance boat manufactured by Joysway. Purchasing links and other information is available below.
COVID-19 Restrictions
While we were planning to start racing at the end of February / beginning of March, the Province made a Declaration of Emergency on January 12, 2021 for all of Ontario in response to rising COVID-19 numbers. The enhanced public health and workplace safety measures are anticipated to be in place until at least February 11, 2021. Details on the active Declaration of Emergency can be found online here, but for our purposes we need to consider that no more than 5 people may gather outdoors, keeping at least 2 metres physical distance from each other, and that they should also wear a mask or face covering. Considering those restrictions and bearing in mind that the Club wants to operate safely and in compliance with the Province's regulations, the RC racing program is currently on hold.

We hope that we will be able to provide a more optimistic outlook in the near future, and will keep you updated on this page.

In the meantime, we are providing (below) links to purchasing, assembly, and tuning information; radio controlled sailing community links; and class and racing rules. These materials should get you to the starting line ready to go as soon as we can begin.
